Honestly, this is the first time I have ever heard it meant to mean holding multiple beers, must be a regional thing. Just like slang from particular subcultures or different cultures can mean radically different things, despite using the exact same words. That would mean that everyone would have to be careful about saying anything just in case somewhere in some other context it can mean something completely different. For that exact same reason, shouldn't British people be careful for using the term "fag" for cigarette in the UK?
