Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches
The Madagascar hissing cockroach (Gromphadorhina portentosa), also known as the hissing cockroach or simply hisser, is one of the largest species of cockroach, reaching 2 to 3 inches (– cm) at maturity.
They are native to the island of Madagascar, which is off the African mainland, where they are known to be.
Description:She says her roaches like apples and bananas, but don't like spinach or lettuce, although they will eat other greens. This audible use of the respiratory system is far more common in vertebrates. Finally, the behavior of males and females also differ: Madagascar hissing cockroaches feed on fallen fruit and decaying organic matter and can live as long as five years.
